Year 9 Key Stage 4 Options Evening
Dear Parents and Carers
Year 9 Key Stage 4 Options Evening, Tuesday 6th February 2018
I am writing to invite you to attend our Year 9 GCSE Options Evening on Tuesday 6th February 2018. The evening has been arranged to help you begin the process of considering which subjects your son/daughter will take in Years 10 and 11. Our aim is to give you an overview and understanding of the different courses on offer. You will receive the Options Booklet and your child’s Year 9 Spring report a few days before the evening, allowing you and your son/daughter to have some initial discussions about appropriate options choices.
The event will run between 5.30pm and 7.00pm. There will be an opportunity to talk to subject-specific staff and to see student work and examination materials. We also ask that you attend one of the short central presentations in the Sports Hall. For your convenience, and to spread out the numbers, we have arranged for two presentations to take place: one at 5.30pm and one at 6.00pm.
Our Careers Advisor, Mrs O’Connor, will also be available on the evening for any careers-related advice. If you would like to book an appointment with her to discuss your son / daughter’s options choices and career plans, please contact her via Careers@neatherd.org.
The Options Evening will then be followed (after the half-term holiday) by a Parents’ Evening on Thursday 22nd February, when you can receive more personalised advice from teachers as to the appropriateness of Key Stage 4 courses your child may be considering.
Please note that the Options Choices forms need to be returned to the Student Reception post-box no later than Wednesday, 28th February.
