Statement from Governing Body of Dereham Neatherd High School
As you may be aware, last month the Director of Children's Services at Norfolk County Council, Michael Rosen, informed us that the local authority would be willing to cease plans to impose an Interim Executive Board in our school should the governors agree to certain conditions.
The deadline for making this decision was 10th of July. The Governing Body has given careful consideration to the matters raised (which were communicated to staff, students and parents in Norfolk County Council's Statement to Stakeholders in June) and has unanimously passed a resolution consenting to these requirements.
However, due to the current political uncertainties and rapid change in government policy, the governors have taken the decision that they do not desire to pursue a separate sixth form for the academic year 2017-2018. Once our budget has been returned and the warning notice removed on 1st September 2016, we will proceed in a timely manner to explore plans beyond that, for a separate sixth form.
We should like to thank parents, students, staff and the local community for their continued support and we will keep everyone informed of these ongoing discussions and decisions.
