Post 16 evening at Neatherd
Dear Parents / Carers
Post-16 Options Evening on Tuesday 15th October
Further to our previous letter we would now like to give you more details about our Post-16 Options Evening which takes place on Tuesday 15th October 2019.
This is a key event in terms of our students’ choices of Post 16 education and we hope you will be able to attend with your son/daughter. We have invited local colleges, academies, training service providers and potential employers into school to enable you and your child to discuss the different options available. You will be able to speak to the different organisations and ask them questions on an individual basis.
The evening will start with a brief presentation in the canteen which will provide information about a variety of Post 16 Options and explain the application process. If your child is in house Kett or Carter (before being moved into year 11 forms), you are asked to attend the presentation in the canteen at 5.45pm. After this you will have the opportunity to speak to the different providers in the sports hall. If your son or daughter is in house Fry or Cavell (before being move into year 11 forms), we would invite you to attend the presentation in the canteen at 6.15pm. After the presentation you will then also have the opportunity to speak to the different providers in the sports hall.
We hope that by offering two presentations we will be able to manage the numbers for the presentation and time you will have with providers. Where possible please stick to your allocated time to help with this. If you are unable to make either presentation please feel free to come along later and speak to the providers in the sports hall, they will be available until about 7.45pm.
So far we have confirmation from over 30 Post 16 providers who are going to attend on the evening, including City College Norwich, Easton College, College of West Anglia, Access Creative College, University Technical College, Nova Training, Sir Isaac Newton 6th form, Jane Austen 6th form, Wymondham High 6th form, Wymondham College, Notre Dame 6th form, Ormiston Victory Academy, Reepham College, Dereham Sixth Form College, University of East Anglia, Poultec, NHS, Army, RAF, and several local employers and apprenticeship providers as well as Neatherd’s own Careers Adviser Mrs O’Connor.
On top of speaking to representatives from all these providers, you will also have the opportunity to try out Norfolk County Council’s Help you choose website which holds key Post 16 information for your children and through which the college applications must be completed. Help will be on hand for this in Maths 1.
Students do not need to attend in school uniform.
I hope to see you on the 15th October for this very important evening.
Mr R Hodges
