Holly Smale Visit

Dear Parent/carer,

We are delighted to be welcoming the outstanding author Holly Smale as a result of our winning auction bid made to the Grenfell Tower Fire Authors for Auction appeal. Holly is the author of the hugely successful Geek Girl series with the final book, Forever Geek, in the six book series published last year.

Geek Girl was the no. 1 bestselling young adult fiction title in the UK in 2013. It was shortlisted for several major awards including the Roald Dahl Funny Prize and the Branford Boase award, nominated for the Queen of Teen award and won the teen and young adult category of the Waterstones Children’s Book Prize and the 11-14 category of the Leeds Book Award.

Holly will be talking to all Year 7, 8 and 9 during P5 on Friday 9th February. Books will be on sale supplied from Waterstones of Norwich at the discounted price of £6.00 each or two for £10.00.

We have found that the experience of inviting engaging authors to speak to the students has greatly increased their interest in reading their books and literature in general. At previous events many students have been disappointed that they did not bring money on the day to purchase a personally signed book after being captivated by the author and his stories.
