Community Library Visit for Year 7 Students
Dear parents / carers
We all know how important reading is to enable students to access all of their school subjects, develop their imagination and clear communication. However, many students do not read during school holidays as they do not have access to a source of books. As such we have arranged for all Year 7 students to visit Dereham Library during one of their English lessons. During the visit the community librarian will give a brief overview of the resources available at the library, afterschool/weekend/holiday events plus the summer reading project- we hope that your child will continue to read during their holidays once they have a library card.
We will be travelling by minibus accompanied by the class teacher and librarian. This trip is free.
We have attached a Norfolk Library enrolment form for your child (plus other family members if wished) to complete and return to the school in order for us to process this before the visit. This will allow your child to be issued with a library card so that they can borrow books during their school visit – if your child is already a member of the Norfolk Library service then please remind them to bring their card with them on the day.
Please check the times below for when your child will be visiting. If you would like to join them for the session to help them choose a book and explore the library with them, you would be most welcome to meet us there.
