The department strives for all students to enjoy their ICT experience at Neatherd. We want everyone to develop their ICT skills whilst having fun and gaining transferable skills that are relevant to students' own lives and experiences. ICT is a dynamic and ever-changing subject that opens up many different future paths and will stay with students and affect future decisions. We have excellent resources and would like all students and staff to utilise them to enhance their everyday lives.

We believe the strength and focus within the department is the teaching and learning of the detailed schemes of work that are present for the various different course and qualifications we follow at Neatherd. We are an enthusiastic and dedicated department that works hard to ensure pupils enjoy learning all the different aspects of ICT. We are forward thinking, supportive and committed to sharing ideas and resources.

Over the last few years our results have been consistently good and analysis of data tells us we are performing in excess of expectations. Our most recent set of results from the summer of 2014 continue to show a high level of achievement.

We had 3 different qualifications on offer to KS4 students in 2014. 75% of pupils who sat GCSE ICT achieved A* to C, 98% of pupils who sat the Cambridge Nationals in ICT achieved A* to C and 93% of Computer Scientists achieved A* to C. Overall in the ICT Department we achieved 88% A*-C. Almost 9/10 pupils left Neatherd in 2014 with an ICT qualification between A* to C.

The department has four dedicated ICT suites for use within the department, as well as access to five other ICT suites assigned to other departments across the school. Each suite is equipped with interactive whiteboards, 30 or more modern computers all with internet access, broadband internet, numerous software applications and the right to use colour and black and white printers.
