Pleasurewood Hills 2008

Year 8 End of Year Reward Trip

On 16th July 2008 150 Year 8 students visited Pleasurewood Hills Theme Park as a reward for their excellent work, behaviour and attitude. Pictures of the day are shown below.

The day started as Mr. Yassin debriefed us in the canteen before the hour long journey began. Mr. Ridley then kindly took the reigns. All of us had a great time and were a real credit to the school as we bounced from ride to ride in our friendship groups in the summer sunshine.

The monstrous roller-coaster called Wipe-Out proved popular and helped earn Taya a special prize for bravery whilst Jess laughed heartily at Mr. Guiney for screaming wimpishly as the ride tossed him from side to side before he had to sit down for a ‘recovery’ ice cream. Mr. Chapman and Mr. Dunn on the other hand were doing their best to outdo us on the ‘big’ rides before it all got too much for Mr. Dunn and he opted for a go on the carousel instead. We then met up for a sit down picnic undeterred by Deanna’s plastic musical ice cream cone and Paige’s recently purchased dazzling pink glitter cowgirl hat. Amy and Siona made a splash on the log flume with Mr. Carvell, who having lost his sunglasses in the water, also opted for an easy life and was last seen eyeing up the Wizzy Dizzy ride once it was decided he was indeed over the minimum height. Luke then managed to wrangle his way out of the stocks, Joanna fittingly played superwoman, and Ashleigh proved her sporting prowess at the coconut shy before Miss Moss narrowly avoided a collision with a 2 mph train. As all this was happening Mrs. Williamson, Miss. Battersby, and Mr. Daniels were momentarily distracted from their tea and scones as they looked overhead to see a flying Connor and Marcus!

As we boarded the bus it was with much sorrow that the day had ended – or perhaps that because we had a sneaking suspicion Mr. Guiney was about to sing. It was clear, however, that Jaye particularly enjoyed the Ipswich Town lyrics!

A special word of gratitude goes to Mr. Yassin for all his hard work in making the day possible. Thanks also go to Mr. Ridley, the best tutors in the world for helping out (not forgetting Miss. Rust and Mrs. Costenbarder), and to all the parents/guardians for their support.

Above all, however, thanks must go to all the Year 8 students who made the day so enjoyable.
