Year 7 Trip to Normandy – June 2008
86 Year 7 pupils and 9 staff spend the week in the beautiful region of
Normandy in northern France as part of their enhanced curricular studies.
As well as practising their French in real life situations in shops and
at a local market, pupils learned about the history of this region with
a visit to the abbey of Mont Saint Michel, Fougères castle and the 360
degree cinema to Arromanche - site of the D- Day landings.
They were given sweets by shopkeepers in the market town of Coutainville
who were so impressed with their behaviour and willingness to try out the
language. They also visited the Bayeux tapestry, the Drakar chocolate factory
and the Saint Malo aquarium.
The pupils feedback from this trip has been very positive and we are
hoping to increase numbers to 120 pupils next year. Here are some of the
photos of our trip.
