Welcome to The Duke of Edinburgh's Award (presentation here)

What is the DofE all about?
A DofE programme is a real adventure from beginning to end. It doesn’t matter who you are or where you’re from. You just need to be aged between 14 and 24 and realise there’s more to life than sitting on a sofa watching life pass you by.

A message from Ms Viv Smee
Duke of Edinburgh Group Leader:

Dereham Neatherd High School currently has pupils working towards their Bronze Level Duke of Edinburgh Award. The candidates have to carry out activities in sports, skill and service categories, along with completing practice and assessment expeditions. It is rewarding to see this level of commitment from our pupils.

We currently use the Norfolk County Council backed facilities and their highly qualified staff for these expedition weekends. The dates are reserved ahead of time so that the pupils can complete the necessary training required for this activity during Tuesday lunchtimes. The candidates are required to have their own transportation to and from the locations; full details are advised by permission forms near the time and information will be available on our webpage.

The candidates will have already completed an application form and been issued with a pack. There is a booklet that will need to be completed as they complete various tasks.
If you have any queries or would like any further information, pleas do not hesitate to contact me at the school.

Levels
You can do programmes at three levels, which when completed, lead to a Bronze, Silver or Gold Duke of Edinburgh's Award.

Sections
You achieve your Award by completing a personal programme of activities in four sections (five if you're going for Gold) - Volunteering, Physical, Skills, Expedition and for Gold, a Residential.

You'll find yourself helping people or the community, getting fitter, developing skills, going on an expedition and taking part in a residential activity (Gold only).

The best bit is - you get to choose what you do!

Your programme can be full of activities and projects that get you buzzing, and along the way you’ll pick up experiences, friends and talents that will stay with you for the rest of your life.

If you need any further information, contact our DofE leader, Ms Viv Smee on vivienne_smee@neatherd.org ....or check our the National DofE web site here ..... or Norfolk School's information here!

Year 11 Silver - Packs ordered in November are now available for collection from Ms Smee at either Break or Lunch.
