Dear Parent/Carer

Year 8 Geography Field Study Trip, Tuesday 8th May
Sets 8e/Gg1, 8e/Gg2, 8e/Gg3 and 8e/Gg4

As an integral part of the Year 8 curriculum, we are arranging a field study trip to the Norfolk Broads at Wroxham. The purpose of this visit is to enhance pupils’ learning about tourism and conservation. Pupils will go on a two-hour cruise from Wroxham to Salhouse Broad and will complete a study of land use in Wroxham. Pupils will be issued with a booklet which guides their understanding, observations and recording of data and information. This will be used as a follow-up in the classroom which leads to an assessment activity.

We would be grateful to receive a contribution of £12.00 towards the cost of transport and the river cruise. Please complete the attached Parental Consent Form and return it with your payment to Mrs Lovelock in the Payment Collections Office (outside Business 1) at morning break any day except Wednesday between 11.10am and 11.25am as soon as possible and by Thursday 29th March at the latest. No collection is available on Friday 30th March. Cheques should be made payable to Dereham Neatherd High School.

Would you also please ensure on the day that your son/daughter is dressed in school uniform with suitable ‘top wear’ depending on the weather. Pupils should bring a packed lunch and a drink (no glass bottles please). Pupils who are in receipt of free school meals will be provided with a packed lunch on the day. The coach will leave at 9.00am and return to the school in time for pupils to catch their normal transport home.

Please do not hesitate to contact me at the school if you have any questions.

Yours sincerely

Miss H Chilvers
Teacher of Geography
