16.11.11 Year 7 Trip to Wells-Next-The-Sea

18th October 2011

Dear Parents

Year 7 Geography Field Study Trip Wednesday 16th November 2011
Sets 7.1w,7.2w,7.3w & 7.4w

As an integral part of the Year 7 curriculum we are arranging a field study trip to the North Norfolk Coast (Wells and Overstrand). The purpose of this visit is to enhance pupils’ learning about coastal studies, with particular reference to coastal defences. Pupils will be issued with a booklet which guides their understanding, observations and recording of information. This will then be used as a follow-up in the classroom.

We ask for a parental contribution of £6.00 per pupil towards the cost of transport and insurance. This should be handed in to Mrs Lovelock in the Payment Collections Room (outside Business 1 access is via the science corridor) during morning break any day except Wednesday, by Thursday 10th November at the latest. Cheques should be made payable to Dereham Neatherd High School.

In response to LEA guidelines regarding Educational Visits and Journeys, we are enclosing a Personal Information and Parental Consent Form which must be completed and returned with your payment. Please note that your son/daughter will not be able to take part in this trip unless this is completed in full and returned to Mrs Lovelock. We would like to point out that we will be filming during the day in order to place a video of the field trip on the school’s website. If you do not want your son/daughter to be included in this video, please let me know.
Would you also please ensure that your son/daughter is suitably dressed on the day for whatever the weather has to offer (school uniform is not required) and sound footwear is essential. This will be a full day field study with coaches leaving school at 8.55 am and returning to school by 3.20 pm in time for children to catch their normal transport home. Pupils should bring a packed lunch and a drink – no glass bottles please. A packed lunch will be provided for those pupils in receipt of free school meals.

If you have any questions or require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.
Yours sincerely
