Year 9/10 Sports Tour - Barcelona October 2016
Year 9/10 School sports tour – Barcelona October 2016.
During half term of October 2016 we are offering pupils the chance to go on a sports tour to Barcelona in Spain where they will enjoy a whole week engaging in either Football or Netball. They will travel to the destination by coach and ferry and be away from Norfolk for a total of 7days. The cost of the trip is £462 based on 44 children paying for a place on the trip. Obviously if we do not get as many numbers then the cost of the trip may increase, but I envisage the cost of the trip being no more than £500.
Pupils will spend a minimum of 4 ½ hours receiving coaching from full qualified professional coaches at world class facilities in the resort of Platja D’aro which is situated on the coast of Spain just outside Barcelona. The Football teams will receive 2 full fixtures against local opposition, whilst the Netball teams will play in competitions either against other schools that are in the venue or also local opposition.
As well as engaging in sport the pupils will have the opportunity to take in some Spanish culture by spending some time in the hustling bustling street of la Ramblas where the can shop in the local gift stores or have a look around the world famous La Boqueria market. Evening entertainment consists of a bowling night, a disco night and a worrying night of Karaoke. There is also an optional tour of the Nou Camp stadium, home of world class team Barcelona Football club, for an additional cost of £22.
Pupil behaviour is obviously a big part of the trips risk assessment. If staff have evidence that a pupil would be a danger to themselves and/or others, they cannot take that pupil on the trip. A borderline pupil (e.g. they may already be on stage 3 of the sanctions policy & may have been before governors) may only be accepted following an interview with parents. A written agreement that parents will fund & organise an early return from the trip if conduct gives cause for concern will be required and other conditions may be set.
Residential trips to other countries can be hazardous if pupils can’t behave and if the behaviour of a pupil, who after making an initial deposit deteriorates in the time prior to the trip, they could be barred from going. We feel parents should be aware of this before applying for this trip. Further details will follow to advise on other requirements.
If you would be interested in your child engaging on this trip please fill in the return form below by November 6th 2015. For further details don’t hesitate to contact me on 01362 655451.
