Year 8 Geography Field Study Trip
Year 8 Geography Field Study Trip – Wednesday 2nd March 2016
As an integral part of the Year 8 curriculum, we are arranging a field study trip to the Norfolk Broads and Wroxham. The purpose of this visit is to enhance students’ learning about tourism and conservation. Students will go on a two-hour cruise from Wroxham to Salhouse Broad and will complete fieldwork in the centre of Wroxham. All students will be issued with a booklet which guides their understanding, observations and recording of information. This will then be used as a follow-up in the classroom.
We ask for a parental contribution of £12.00 per student towards the cost of transport, insurance, the work booklet and the river cruise. Payments should be made via our on-line system, ParentPay by Monday 22nd February at the latest, but those choosing not to use this system should make cheques payable to Dereham Neatherd High School and take to the payment collection area (outside Business 1) during Thursday morning break (11.10am-11.25am) only and by Thursday 11th February at the latest. (Note Thursday is the only day we can receive cheque payments. Please bear this in mind when meeting deadlines).
In response to LEA guidelines regarding Educational Visits and Journeys, we require consent for your child to take part in this visit. For this trip consent can be given via your ParentPay account. Please see the link within the notes on ParentPay regarding the consent given. In the notes box, on ParentPay, you will need to enter an emergency contact number for the day in question and also any medical details. Please ensure that this information only is entered. If you are unable to use your ParentPay account to give consent or parental contribution please contact the finance office to obtain a paper copy of the consent which will need completing, signing and returning by the 11th February. Please note that your son/daughter will not be able to take part in this trip unless consent is completed in full via ParentPay or by paper form and returned by the closure date.
Would you also please ensure on the day that your son/daughter is dressed in suitable clothing depending on the weather (school uniform is not required). This will be a full day field study with coaches leaving school at 8:55am and returning to school by 15:20pm in time for students to catch their normal transport home. Students should bring a packed lunch and a drink – no glass bottles please. A packed lunch will be provided for those students in receipt of free school meals.
If you have any questions or require any further information please do not hesitate to contact me.
