Mindfulness and Mental Health
Dear Parents and Carers,
As you will be aware, we take the wellbeing and mental health of all our students very seriously and over the last two years we have invested in providing excellent counselling in school as well as making referrals to external agencies where appropriate. We constantly reinforce the message that everyone has mental health, just as we all have physical health and it's something we need to work on day to day.
Please see the attached out guide to wellbeing at Neatherd. Most of these things are fun, proactive things that students can do themselves to look after their mental health. There will be things you can support at home.
Please note in particular that mindfulness is now open to all students every Monday at form-time if they wish to attend. It was previously really popular with our Year 11s.
We are also encouraging students (and staff) to take a break from social media from 8am this Wednesday morning to 8am on Friday morning. See the attached powerpoint to read about the potential benefits of doing this. Of course, all of this is entirely voluntary, but students will get 25 Housepoints a day for managing to switch off. They will need a signature from you in their planners to say you have not seen them on social media at home.
Please talk as a family about these matters if possible and I'm happy to answer any further questions if you have questions.
