Dressing up for World Book Day tomorrow
Dear Parents and Carers
Staff and students at Neatherd are very excited to be joining in with World Book Day tomorrow, Thursday 2nd March. There will be lots of activities going on during the whole day and students have also been encouraged to dress up as their favourite book characters.
We would just like to clarify the "rules" about dressing up. It is a non uniform day for students who choose to come dressed as a named character from a book/ comic strip/ magazine (not just a film). If they choose not to dress up then they must wear their normal school uniform. If students want to come dressed as named characters who wear normal everyday clothes then they must show that they are that character by using ‘props’ from the book i.e.- if the character uses a camera and writes news stories then they must create a ‘press pass’ and wear an old camera around their neck. "Muggles" are not ‘named’ characters and are therefore not allowed as a dress-up option.
If the students choose to come to school in costume then they must be dressed appropriately- no hooped earrings, short skirts, low cut tops etc
The cost for dressing up is £1 per family which goes to pay for a patron of reading. Currently we have Alex Scarrow as our Patron of Reading and all students are benefitting from this through readings, workshops and different activities.
