Post-16 Options Evening
Dear Parents / Carers
Further to our letter of 14th September we would now like to give you more details about our Post-16 Options Evening which takes place on Wednesday 19th October 2016.
This is a key event in terms of our students’ choices of Post 16 education and we hope you will be able to attend with your son/daughter. We have invited local colleges, academies, training service providers and potential employers into school to enable you and your child to discuss the different options available. You will be able to speak to the different organisations and ask them questions on an individual basis.
The evening will start with a brief presentation in the canteen which will provide vital information about a variety of Post 16 Options choices and the application process. If your child is in house Kett or Carter, you are asked to attend the presentation in the canteen at 5.30pm. After this you will have the opportunity to speak to the different providers in the sports hall. If your son or daughter is in house Fry or Cavell, we would invite you to attend the presentation in the canteen at 6.15pm. After the presentation you will then also have the opportunity to speak to the different providers in the sports hall.
So far we have confirmation from 30 providers who are going to attend on the evening, including City College Norwich, Easton College, Sir Isaac Newton 6th form, Jane Austen 6th form, Wymondham College, Reepham College, Dereham Sixth Form College, University of East Anglia, Poultec, Construction Training Specialists, Access to Music, NHS, Army, RAF and Navy.
On top of speaking to representatives from all these providers, you will also have the opportunity to try out Norfolk County Council’s Help you choose website which holds key Post 16 information for your children and through which the college applications must be completed. Help will be on hand for this in Maths 1.
We hope that by offering two presentations in the canteen we will be able to spread the numbers for both the presentation and time with the providers. Where possible please stick to your allocated time. If you are unable to make either presentation please feel free to come along later and speak to the providers in the sports hall, they will be available until about 7.45pm. On the evening, please make sure you register in the entrance to the canteen.
Students do not need to attend in school uniform.
I hope to see you on the 19th October for this very important evening.
