Student Leadership and Team Leaders
In Year 10 Students take part in Leadership Day. The days focusses on team work, and introduces the concept of Student leadership and responsibility during community time. Through problem solving and role play students consider the situations that may arise whilst being on duty at break and lunch times - and in turn think through ways of resolving the issues and the desireable qualities an individual will need in order to be be successful at this.
Team Leaders are selected by staff and students based on what has happened during the course of the day. Team Leaders are also pre-selected by staff based on the contributions to the school community that students are already making.
Head People election
Team Leaders are all potential head people. In the summer term, Team Leaders are asked to vote for four students whom they feel have suitable qualities for the role of Head People. Staff will also vote. Those students with the highest number of votes will be asked to write a letter of application to the Head Teacher and will be asked to attend an interview. At the interview will be Mr Devonish, a member of the Governing Body, a member from the local Rotary Club, plus Mrs Jacobs and Mr Thorpe. Following on from this the Head Boy and Head Girl, and deputy Head Boy and Deputy Head Girl, will be decided.
